Clobetasol propionate is a corticosteroid of theglucocorticoid class used to treat various skin disorders includingeczema and psoriasis. It is also highly effective for contact dermatitis caused by exposure to poison IVY/oak. Clobetasol belongs to US Class I (Europe: class IV) of the corticosteroids, making it one of the most potent available. It comes in shampoo, mousse, ointment and emollientcream presentations. It has very high potency and typically should not be used with occlusive dressings, or for extended continuous use (beyond two weeks). It is also used to treat several auto-immune diseases including alopecia areata, vitiligo and lichen planus (auto immune skin nodules).
2. Uses
Clobetasol propionate is used to reduce the inflammation, redness, swelling, itching and tenderness associated with skin conditions and is applied locally on the skin.
It is a topical corticosteroid, sometimes known as steroids.
It is used to treat skin and scalp conditions that have not been effectively treated with other steroids.
In general this drug is used to treat eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis and neurodermatitis (skin problems caused by stress or other psychologicalfactors).
3. Dosage
This medication is usually applied to the affected skin area once or twice a day, or as directed by our doctor.
Use this medication regularly in order to get the most benefit from it.
Remember to use it at the same time each day - unless specifically told not to by your doctor.
