Description:
Celecoxib, as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, achieves anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) blocking arachidonic acid synthesis of prostaglandins. Clinically useful in the treatment of acute and chronic osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Effects:
Celecoxib has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of NSAIDs. Due to the nature of its chemical structure, it can be used in combination with the COX-2, and has selective inhibition on COX-2.
Celecoxib phenyl binding with hydrophobic channel of COX-2, hydrophilic sulfonamide to form a hydrogen chain with 513 arginine inside COX-2 “side pockets” and 90 histidine.
Through closely combining with arginine at COX-2120 position, this product also played a role of inhibiting COX-2 to get arachidonic acid transferred into prostaglandins which has adverse effects on the human body. Due to COX-1 and COX-2 nuances of the structure, the drug can neither enter the COX-1 molecule, nor inhibit COX-1 conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandins.
Therefore, this product has good effects on anti-inflammatory analgesic, protecting the gastric mucosa, maintaining renal blood flow and regulation of platelet aggregation, but also can solve the gastrointestinal irritation caused by often use of NSAIDs.
Uses:
1. For the treatment of arthritis; having anti-inflammatory analgesic effect; relieving signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
2. For treatment of arthritis.
3. For the symptomatic treatment of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Usage:
For relief and management of osteoarthritis (OA), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA), ankylosing spondylitis, acute pain, primary dysmenorrhea and oral adjunct to usual care for patients with familial adenomatous polyposis.
A selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor. Anti-inflammatory. Used in treatment of familial adenomatous polyposis.
